Inside the hosting
The Mercedes-Benz Club runs its membership on a Claris FileMaker database — the database is theirs; Smart Wolf hosts, secures and manages it. That means a dedicated Linux cloud server, the latest Claris FileMaker Server, layered security, automated backups and all of the licensing looked after in one place.
Staff across multiple locations connect directly with FileMaker Pro, and the members' area of the Club's public website connects to the same database through a bespoke PHP API built by Smart Wolf — gated by API tokens and an IP whitelist, so the hosted data is only reachable from approved paths.

Layered security
SSL/TLS protects data in transit and the hosted FileMaker file is encrypted at rest. Direct FileMaker connections and the bespoke PHP API used by the Club's website are both controlled by an IP whitelist, and the API is additionally gated by secure tokens.

Backups at every level
Claris FileMaker Server's own scheduled backups run continuously inside the host, and the Linux cloud server itself is snapshotted on a managed schedule — so there's always more than one recoverable copy of the data, at more than one layer.
